I guess, this is the error you got.
Intel galileo has Quark SoC X1000 processor, it's 32 bit and x86, but it's different and you should cross-compile, even if you have Linux x32 bit x86 desktop PC.
To cross-compile I used debian image with Eclipse and configured project: https://software.intel.com/sites/landingpage/iotdk/devkit-live-img-final.binblob.bz2
1. I ran this image in Virtualbox. (Convert binblob to virtualbox image)
2. Wrote code on my Ubuntu desktop, and checked it.
3. Copy code to some project in Eclipse on Virtualbox, compile it and copy over ssh to galileo.
